Reuters: What makes a poingant photograph?

the Reuters Blog has a nice (if not slightly harrowing, with regards to subject matter) article on how to get news photography, or as the author said, "And by that I mean a picture that is so powerful it makes you gasp or gives you goosebumps."

The photographs from the 2001 Genoa G8 protests are particularly horrifying, especially considering I had never heard about the protests until I read this article (I was only 12 back in 2001).
