Revenge is a Dish Best Served Cold

Pesphoto, I'm not an "evil genius", just one who knows his way around city hall and about building & zoning requirements. I was on the North Miami Planning Commision for 12 years and I think it's going on 7 years on the city's Board of Adjustment where we issue variances. http://bp2.blogger.com/_b7J54W1JOoc/R7eEWeewOHI/AAAAAAAAA28/_tfMHMkPlSw/s1600-h/4.jpg shows me on the left along with the city attorney, the head of building and zoning, and the deputy city clerk along with my toy monkey Monkette. Hey, you gotta keep a sense of humor, right? Considering that I only have three credit hours of college (with a 4.0 average)I'm not all that much more educated than the monkey.

Ha, ha! Pure genius...Al, where were you with Monkette when I was sitting Director for various Community Development Departments in the Atlanta metro area? I never thought of having a straw man, instead, I took all the slings and arrows when either hard decisions had to be made, or when new plans created controversy among certain politicians!

Next time I go back to the classroom, I will have to have you in as a guest speaker!:D

I'm with Keith ... not really sure how useful those photos would be to the dastardly gas station owner. Anyway, enjoy lording them over him.

Knowledge is power...and I can't be bothered to look up the Latin for Bacon's original phrase, I'd only get it wrong:rolleyes:

Maybe in this case it doesn't embue you with any actual power other than the power to laugh your socks off at the grumpy bugger, but then sometimes that enough:cool:

Enjoy the moment, I wish I such a moment to enjoy those that have harrassesd and jostled me. Schadenfreude, yep, just makes you human:angel:

I don't know much latin other than what I remember on my grandmother's wall (part Scottish)- Nemo me impune lassesit. Seems to fit here Jon. ;)

Interesting progression of responses here. But I think Ghandi said it best: "An eye for an eye, and pretty soon the whole world is blind."

Oh dear -- maybe I am not understanding, but something about the original post is not making sense. The gas station owner did not have a point-n-shoot or cellphone camera, nor any of his employees...? Or, the photos for the insurance company needed the really nice bokeh that only Leica glass can provide?;-)

retnull:

I was the only person using a camera there.

It happened to be a Leica because that's what I had with me. A disposable would have served just as well.

Yes, the truck just nudged it a tiny bit.

But it was unstable so yesterday (a week later) it was demolished.

Although the demolition took all day I was the only person there with a camera again.

Compare the photo in MickH's post above with my previous one in post #1.

Yesterday...

This is right outside my home and I can see it even as I type this now.

I estimate at least 6 months closure for rebuilding, and costs running into many hundreds of thousands.

Even yesterday's demolition must have been expensive as the site is small and the structure needed to be collapsed onto its own footprint very precisely.

One day this will be a photo set of before, during, and after.
