Ha, ha! Pure genius...Al, where were you with Monkette when I was sitting Director for various Community Development Departments in the Atlanta metro area? I never thought of having a straw man, instead, I took all the slings and arrows when either hard decisions had to be made, or when new plans created controversy among certain politicians!

Next time I go back to the classroom, I will have to have you in as a guest speaker!😀
 
Knowledge is power...and I can't be bothered to look up the Latin for Bacon's original phrase, I'd only get it wrong🙄

Maybe in this case it doesn't embue you with any actual power other than the power to laugh your socks off at the grumpy bugger, but then sometimes that enough😎

Enjoy the moment, I wish I such a moment to enjoy those that have harrassesd and jostled me. Schadenfreude, yep, just makes you human:angel:

I don't know much latin other than what I remember on my grandmother's wall (part Scottish)- Nemo me impune lassesit. Seems to fit here Jon. 😉
 
Oh dear -- maybe I am not understanding, but something about the original post is not making sense. The gas station owner did not have a point-n-shoot or cellphone camera, nor any of his employees...? Or, the photos for the insurance company needed the really nice bokeh that only Leica glass can provide?;-)

I was the only person using a camera there.

It happened to be a Leica because that's what I had with me. A disposable would have served just as well.
 
Yes, the truck just nudged it a tiny bit.

But it was unstable so yesterday (a week later) it was demolished.

Although the demolition took all day I was the only person there with a camera again.

Compare the photo in MickH's post above with my previous one in post #1.

This is right outside my home and I can see it even as I type this now.

I estimate at least 6 months closure for rebuilding, and costs running into many hundreds of thousands.

Even yesterday's demolition must have been expensive as the site is small and the structure needed to be collapsed onto its own footprint very precisely.

One day this will be a photo set of before, during, and after.
