Six months ago I was photographing at a local gas station.

A large truck was having difficulty maneuvering in the small space.

The gas station manager was angry that I was on the sidewalk photographing the chaos. He pushed me about a bit.

Yesterday...

a truck hit the same gas station.

Later the gas station was closed down and looks likely to need a complete rebuild. Maybe a year or so.

The gas station manger knows I have the photos to support his insurance claim.

But because he was so abusive and physical last time he's not going to get the photos this time.

I'm smiling. He isn't.

Hmmm... rise above his level, Jon. Show him what having REAL class means.

I agree. That's real revenge - knowing that you're a better person than he is, and him knowing it too. Graciousness can be its own reward, but can also be a very effective stick in the eye.

It could be money in your pocket! Offer to sell your pictures to the owner or his insurance company. You should have filed a police report about him shoving you while you were on public property.

Come on Francisco, how often in life does one get a chance like this? ;)

A chance to show real class? Not that often. I am thankful for such opportunities when the present themselves, and when I am able to rise above my own natural inclination to return insult with insult.

Please note the little ;) in my post... it's meant to lend a note of levity to my reply. Here it is again ;)

I'm about to barf from some of the high-and-mighty replies... all we need now is one of "you know who's" lecture on 'honour'. :)

Jon,

I am the petrol shop owner. Sorry for pushing you around, I shouldn't have and thanks for posting these pictures here; the insurance company will find them useful ;)

I'm curious as to what is 'high and mighty' about suggesting a path of action?

I cannot control the way others treat me. I can control how I choose to respond to them. Too often, I fail to follow my own advice. I try to have more control over myself than that, so it is something I work on.

I wonder if his attorney might be able to subpoena you. And you have published them, if only on this web thread.

withholding them to "spite" him will only further propagate his distrust for photographers.

but, of course, you are a businessman. surely there can me some sort of "reciprocation". you did have to buy the film, process and scan the film. and don't forget the wear and tear on your shutter, aperture ring and the hinges on the film door. :)
