I have a GW690II that's been sitting for a bit since my last trip... I picked it up today ready to load some B&W film in it and lo and behold it shows 2 on the counter already! Of course there's no film label in the holder on the back. Is there any way to rewind it or otherwise figure out what film is in there without wasting what I've already taken? Or do I just write off the $3-$4 and call it a day. 🙄

Thanks,
Patrick

No, you cannot rewind 120 film in these cameras. Only shoot and forward on the film. If you mostly shoot B&W then shoot at 200 ASA and then after when you know what it is adjust your development for the shooting at 200.

Well, you could go into a totally dark space, open the back, take out both film spools and reroll the film back onto the feed spool. Once (tightly) re-wrapped and secured with a rubber band so it doesn't spontaneously loosen, you can turn on the light and see what's printed on the leader paper. If you want to then put the film back in the camera and continue shooting, you'd load as usual, take two carefully composed shots of the inside of your lenscap while it's on the lens, take one more for good measure, and now that the counter says 3 you are ready to shoot something more interesting!
