RF BOOK-Project

There's an RF style? Hmmm, I musta' missed that forum ~ ; - )

BTW - A Barrett Light 50 shoots .50cal Browning machinegun shells - LOL.

H*, 50 caliber is a LOT smaller than 50mm, only 12.5mm... "puny"? :D

(FWIW, my 50 cal is even punier than the BMG... the 50 Action Express)

OT, sorry...

Are shooting Desert Eagle, Doug? I didn't know that kind of firearm is available for civilian use.

Any limitations in the US on what kind of firearms you may have in possession? You can't have a fully functional M61A1 gatling, can you?

Kris,
Depends on which state one lives in. Fully automatic (Class 3) are legal in some states, you just pay the Federal lic. fee ($300 I think) and have fun!
Doug,
Yep, I know. The biggest I used to handload was 20mm canon shells, but that was for a Research project, paid for by the US Navy. Don't think it's legal to use those in civilian target practice - LOL. We used the barrel from a Ma Duece to sight in the 20mm.

Heh. The laws here are a mess made by lots of well meaning people with many opposing desires. Basically, while avoiding any of the politics of the issue, .50 inch is the largest you can own without a special license unless it's a muzzleloading blackpowder weapon. Full autos are legal to own if you jump through all the hoops and pay the appropriate taxes.

You can own quite a few things though. My deer hunting rifle is a surplus British .308" L1A1 semi-auto rifle and I also own a .50 caliber flintlock.

Beyond that, there are nearly a gazillion web sites out there to try and find more out.

William

I think the 20mm cannons are illegal now, classed as "destructive devices"... But guys used to have surplus Lahti 20mm and shoot 'em. You're right, Kris, it's a Desert Eagle, nothing illegal about them I think in any state, though some states have (illegally) restricted and licensed ownership of handguns.

Yeah, OT for sure... But just to add the 50AE is gentler to shoot in a gas-operated semi-auto like the Desert Eagle than a revolver, but I've found it's beyond my comfort limit anyway. Just jokiing about "puny". :)
