I voted for the Canon P because I use and love a Canon L1, which is quite similar. The L1 is completely practical. It's an excellent, solid body that's easy to load, has a huge selection of Leica screw mount lenses, and was designed with human factors in mind. Note the flash connection bayonet; the fold-in rewind knob; the lever wind; the elegant shutter speed knob. Every day I use it, it's more and more difficult for me to take out another body.
And then the lines - so sharp and gorgeous. No "sculpting" of the chrome - it's all machined and can withstand anything.
I was just looking at the P again on CameraQuest.com, in black, and if that's not the most beautiful camera ever, I'll eat my hat.
I'm sure my eye will wander again, but that's how I feel right now.
