Hi all
I'm somewhat new to Rangefinders. Last year I did buy an old Argus Matchmatic but it was a tad heavy, complicated, and yielded somewhat mediocre results. However I've been aiming to put together a nice carry-around film photography kit and a classic compact rangefinder from the 70s seemed to fit my needs.

Initially I was thinking of going with the usual suspects, a Canonet or a Yashica Electro. But the tiny Oly 35RC caught my eye so I snagged one off eBay.

It arrived on Thursday and I plowed through a roll of Reala this morning and got CVS pharmacy to process the negs while I ate lunch. I've been scanning all afternoon (scanning color negs is a pain). BUT I'm finally done some of the test shots I liked and I have to say that I love this little jewel of a camera. Tiny and sharp, this camera along with my Yashica-Mat will make my on-the-go film kit a fun force to contend with.

These shots are kind of boring but I enjoy the fruit ones. Fruit poses nicely and stays perfectly still.

This first shot is of a tractor at a place called Strawberry Farms which is a place to get produce and play golf here in Irvine, California.

These lily pads are at the arboretum at UC Irvine.

The fruit is from the Farmers Market at UC Irvine. I didn't know there was a Saturday market there until a few weeks ago. It's a good one too.

This was the first scan that came out nicely after ages of tedium. When it came out I was very satisfied at the capabilities of the camera. I like the shot below but I could've composed it better - looks like there's a biiiit of parallax. I'll have to get used to that.

There was a mariachi band there! This is the only semi decent shot I had of people. I usually use my girlfriend as a model but she's getting a bit sick of having her photo taken all the time, I decided to give her a break. But the pic below really demonstrates film's enormous dynamic range. If this were a little digital camera you probably couldn't see anything in the background.

I can't wait to see what a roll of Tmax will produce. I ordered a lens cap and a yellow filter from Tripman.co.uk. Hopefully it'll arrive soon.

Nice to be here!

Welcome, Phil! This is a great little camera; I got mine used in 1972. You're making good use of your new 35RC. Farmers' Markets are a rich source of candid images.
Hmm, I think I too could come up with a sample, "Cherry Girl"...

Most definitely! I went to Versailles a couple of years ago. I absolutely hated the palace. Packed to the brim with tourists, gaudy room after gaudy room, security breathing down your neck constantly. However in the town of Versailles there was the Sunday Farmer's Market. Great place to take snaps, and it was one of the photo highlights of my trip to Paris.
