Hey everyone,

I'll be in London and Paris for a few days each next month and would love to get a couple of recommendations for shops that have a good selection of RF gear. I'd especially like to check out places that stock a lot of bags, as I'm not having much luck finding good ones here in Vancouver.

Thanks!

In Paris, there is an entire street dedicated to photo gear. It is Boulevard Beaumarchais. There are tons of RF gear stores there (as well as a Leica store). The Leica store had a few bags even... this should speak to the selection available in the other "real" stores.

I can't remember the street but there is a Leica store near Trafalgar Square - a most impressive Leica store.

RG Lewis maybe? It's on the other side of Covent Garden (Southampton Row) from Trafalgar Square, but it's the closest I can think of...

Highly recommended Leica/Ricoh dealers...

For Paris, Boulevard Beaumarchais is the place, as already stated. It starts at the Bastille Monument, easy to find, many shops on both sides of the street. For bags, check Le Cirque Photo, somewhere in the middle of the boulevard.

Google the following for addresses:

My favourites:

+ Red Dot Camera - Leica dealership with a nice 2nd hand selection and Ivor is a lovely chap.

+ Aperture Photographic - a little Aladdins cave of good 2nd hand gear with a fresh juice / coffee shop in the back.

+ Grays of Westminster. Ok, this isn't very RF (although they still had a couple of new Nikon RF re-release sets last time I was there) - but it's a great place to buy anything Nikon.

Then:

+ Richard Caplan

And I won't recommend The Classic Camera because the service is rude and unpleasant.

Great place to shop and the the fellow who owns the Leica store there is actually a really nice guy. Don't go looking for a photo gear bargain in Paris as prices tend to be on the "high side".

As mentioned if you're a tourist this is only a block or so away from the site of the Bastille.

I ended up getting a Billingham at Classic Camera in London. I'm just surprised I managed to get out of there with any money in my wallet. . .

Thanks for the recommendations.
