Not yet. But now I would say that it may be interesting only with a badly misaligned rangefinder. Opening the top plate is not a problem, my biggest trouble is finding a way to fix the soft plastic coverings back in place after. I did not find a suitable double-sided adhesive tape yet, the best solution I tried is a few very small points of super glue, everything else just goes off at some point.
 
i just opened up the hotshoe and "push" the black bar. it moved but nothing happened. the rf patch is still misaligned as before. loosen the screw, push it again, still the same. tighten the screw and push again, still the same. move the bar up and down(little free play) still nothing happen.

guess i'll just live with this flaw... bummer.
