I just got a package from joe this morning, with some filters and hoods. The interesting thing is that it was packed in a box which joe previously got from Ralph (rover) 🙂

We should really invent our own currency, since we really just shift all this stuff around between ourselves... 😀

Now, if only postage to USA was a bit cheaper...

I always re-use old boxes that I receive gear in. Best way to recycle paper: 100%. For instance, the Nikon Ftn that I just mailed out. I used the box that my near-mint Chrome Nikon SP came in! I hope I remembered to take the SP out...

Hehe, and Andrew got the Oly SPn in the same box Pherdi sent his Yashica 🙂

Denis, how much is postage up there? The minimum charges here for a parcel around 1 Kg to ANY destination (doesn't matter if it's Lisboa or Chicago or Singapore) is 20 euros 🙁

...but even with collapsible Industars you'd need a huge wallet!
Good idea, though - then I'd finally be rich!

The FSU lenses would be Pocket Change.

What about the Bills:

Xenars; Skopars; Heliars; Planars; 'Crons; Lux's; Nocti's.

Can't use Xenon: It is a gas. And Elmars are always hunting Rabbits.

I still have at home one of Brian's boxes, another one from one of my Isolettes, and at work... boxes from 2 canonets, joe's Hi-matic and ... the P box !

Brian, my double Gauss for your Planar.

Something like that - when I send my shutter tester abroad (very light, packed in a padded envelope), I usually pay something like 12-14 EUR.
Now, that shutter tester is about 0.15 - 0.20 kg packed. If I were to send a camera abroad by air mail, it would probably be in excess of 20 EUR 🙁

And Then, there's this HUGE box of styrofoam packing-peanuts we keep hoping to resend to others (that just keeps growing).

LOL ! I can imagine it's the same all around 'someday I'll have to send something and these peanuts will be absolutely necessary!' 😀

Those styrofoam peanuts are the worst! They're an environmental disaster as well as being a pain in the neck to clean up. Last year I bought a ballhead on eBay and the seller sent the thing in an unsealed box in the middle of a bunch of these styrofoam peanuts. I didn't move the ball but took it to my local dealer where they blew all the styrofoam crap off the head. I was really lucky.

Now people are using air-bags and paper instead of styrofoam.

Tell me. I always seal the item in a zip-loc baggie, then wrap that in bubble wrap. If there's still room to fill, I get rid of those excess peanuts around it - LOL.
