Will there be an RFF EuroMeet in 2013? I remember there was a discussion / idea thread about this somewhere but can't find it anymore.

Hallo Jamais,

The thread with some responses was probably this one.

Foolishly I started it with a title of "E U R O M E E T", thinking that it would show up better in the listing. Of course, no sane person will search for that word with spaces in . . . And then it got moved to the Benelux forum too. Sighhhhh . . .

This will be the first Euromeeet that I miss - boo.

The thinking behind the Euromeet's so far has been to go somewhere easy to get to for most people in Europe, just after Easter when flights are cheap and the chill winds of winter are being replaced with the cool breezes of spring.

The very loose plan is to go and see bits of the city that are not in the guide books, suggested by those that live there or know it.

- Get a place chosen very soon so people can make plans, get cheap tickets &c.
- Keep this thread on the front page for a much time as possible.
- Plan as little as possible (v. important!).

The meets have been in the following places:

2007 - Paris
2008 - Berlin
2009 - Barcelona
2010 - Florence
2011 - London
2012 - Istanbul

The thinking behind the Euromeet's so far has been to go somewhere easy to get to for most people in Europe,...

There are two european capitals in the Heart of Europe which are only 65km apart from each other. So what about a boat tour from Vienna to Bratislava (or the other way round)? Both cities have an airport and are also well connected by bus, rail etc...

I'm sorry to hear that you skip this year, kully.

All being well, I will be off to Kyoto around then - is that near Europe? Easier than Hawaii anyway. This is not yet certain as it depends on the ending of a work contract. I was shocked to discover that it can cost more for a London-Edinburgh return train ticket than for a return flight to Tokyo (admittedly, first-class with the train and the roof-rack on the 'plane).

Sorry to hear that Kully possibly can't go on this trip (which may or may not occur, if we don't decide something soonish).

EDIT: Actually there is a lot more information in the other thread - it makes more sense to keep that one alive I think.

2013 THREAD IS HERE
