RFF New Year's Resolutions

New Years Resolutions...

New Years Resolutions...

Take more photographs.
Have more shots I'm excited with from each roll.
Give myself photo assignments and stick to them.
Post more photos here.
Actually get some photos printed and displayed in my home.

Best wishes to everyone else with their resolutions.

1. Learn sunny 16 and become comfortable shooting without a meter.

2. Seek out more interesting subject matter. How many pictures do I need of the cat, the car, the neighborhood?

3. Don't buy any more cameras without seeing them first.

4. Frame some good shots and put them up around the house. Give them as gifts. Make coffee mugs, calendars, etc. from them.

5. Get a smile out of the photo tech at Walgreen's.

6. Let my wife know I really DO love her more than the cameras.

I'm going to ditch all my film camera gear and go all-digital in the new year. It is the wave of the future, and film is dead. Just going to give my stuff away on Pnet, not here, I wouldn't want to burden anyone at RFF with this dead-end gear. Time to move on.

Is there still room for humour here? 🙂

Does that mean you don't want your calibrated J-3 Back?

I'm not sending it to a mean home where it will not be appreciated.

Plus, I have an adapter to use it on my Nikon DSLR.

For all those who guess what this nonsense means: The number plates are meant.

You'll be starting out with a 1MP camera I hope ... can't have you playing with more megapixels until the training wheels come off. 😀

You have to remember that I'm used to film, Peter. How many megapixels does a 35mm frame equate to?

Lots. But with digital you'll have all sorts of new things ... sensor type, firmware, workflow, monitor calibration, colorspace ... to make the photography experience easier and more convenient. :bang:
So, I'm just thinking 250K jpegs would be a way to ease into the digital world. 😉

Hey, is that near Weil am Rhein, or Freiburg? .

Yep. South of Freiburg, at the Swiss border. My Grandfather came from Freiburg btw, I once had a lot of relationship down there.

1. Try out the film scanner that has sat unused for the last three months -- before the warranty expires 😀
2. Use the photo printer before the ink dries up.
3. Learn CS2 before CS3 is released.
4. Pass some light through the lenses that I couldn't live without; while I'm at it I may as well expose some film.
5. Print, scan, post more often.
6. Stop haunting eBay (I'm off to a good start -- my "watch" list is now empty for the first time in years).

Happy New Year to all!!!

I've decided, come the new year, to limit the gear and materials I use. So for the first three months at least, I'll be shooting:

M6TTL
50 f2
Ilford Delta 400 (but anywhere between 200 and 1600)

My resolution is very close to Mark's. Only I will be using:

M2
35 f2
Tri-X (mostly at ISO 250)

This is assuming that my 35 'cron ever arrives from Henry's in Toronto ! :bang:
