I'm tired of being a "freeloader" (kidding) and would like to sign up for 2 years, but don't have a credit card or Paypal because I'm in Korea. Can I send a US bank M.O. in USD?
Also does the Premium membership allow free, unlimited classified ads or is there some monthly limit?
Please PM w/ details and postal address.
Thanks,
Bill

Try sending a PM or email to Jorge. He is the only one who can arrange that.

Free Classified ads Bill, no limit.
Do send that PM to Jorge, and thanks for asking.

I sent him a PM!!!! Thanks. BTW-- the Premium membership page doesn't say unlimited ads.... or at least I couldn't find it.

Not to go too far off-topic on this thread, but like Bill I found myself hunting a bit for membership information. In my case, I wanted to find a page that would tell me my membership status. That may sound silly, but I'd thought I'd sent a payment for membership some time ago, and since I was a "member" I thought the little ad suggesting I become a "premium member" was suggesting a second level of paid membership. Then I saw the page explaining that a mailbox (PM) limit of 100 messages is a benefit of premium membership and I realized that I was at the free-member level. I searched my PayPal logs and saw nothing to RFF or Jorge, so I signed up (as I should have long ago) for a paid membership. (I think I probably had a "senior moment" concerning my "payment.")
I'm only mentioning this because it might help stir up a few memberships. In general, the interface to the RFF is very good indeed, and the software that runs it is excellent. The page describing the benefits of membership is very clear. I think there were two points at which I hunted for something I couldn't find, though. (1) Even on my "control panel" page I didn't see a clear indication of my membership status or last payment (or that I'd never made one). I had to deduce my status from my Personal Message mailbox limit. (2) I didn't know quite where to ask about this. I had been on the forum for a couple of months before I inferred, from some threads and his signature, that Jorge was the "big cheese." I figured I could PM him if I was completely stumped but I figured he must get flooded with that sort of thing. And among the discussion groups I saw this one, "Rangefinder general discussion," but I didn't notice one on administrative questions.
Neither of these is a show-stopper of a problem, or anything like it. But I wonder if a sort of "administration tutorial" or an administrative forum with a sticky thread with some signposts would be of use to new members?
With thanks to all of you moderators, administrators, big and other "cheeses" for all your work on RFF!

Well-known
Nowadays, does there exist a computer membership system that DOES NOT have some advanced status for $$$ in the pot? And they ALWAYS want it on a credit card. How convenient (and risky).
Settle for the 'every man' status and leave the sales talk alone. Costco, Consumer Reports, and anybody else mentionable wants MORE of your bank account.

Well put-perhaps "The Big Cheese" is listening. We're not criticizing just making helpful, housekeeping comments to make a fine site even better.

Having paid for a membership, I would love to be rid of all the boxes and messages asking me to 'become a premium member'.

Be patient Bill, Jorge may be away for the holidays.Bill58 said:I'm awaiting an answer--and will post here.
One of the small changes coming with the new ownership is that Premium Membership is no longer needed to help run the forum. RFF will solely rely on revenues from sponsors to stay up. That being the case, no more Premium Memberships will be accepted. Those who have Premium Membership now will retain the benefits which were acquired when upgrading their original membership. In addition to this, once your existing membership expires, yo will retain your Icon showing support for the forum in the growth days
I wish to express a big thank you to those that helped the forum. Your contributions helped keep RFF up and running.
