RFF Value

Ahh, you mean Capulets VS Montagues?

I hinted you were engaged in a high litherature debate !

No, nothing like that, Ruben.

I was engaging in irony.

The thread was going along just fine, with everyone being nice to each other. Kim dropped in to point out that while we are all thanking each other, he notes that we don't thank each other when we insult each other (referring to recent angry threads). He then noted that the humor one finds in threads are also free, and I thanked him (with tongue in cheek) for making the tone more somber.

Sorry for the idiosyncratic language. It is hard to not engage in wordplay from time to time.

Best Regards,

Bill Mattocks

wtl...., you seem to have misunderstood members' intentions. All here know that it is the community which makes this site work, but, without a place to meet there would be no community at all.

I very much agree. Jorge must have quite a broad mind to sustain a site in which a lot of things of his dislike do happen. Of course he must enjoy most of what is written here, i.e. RFF membership, in order to continue.

Cheers,
Ruben

Humans require patience, my friend Joe. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn't. On behalf of the times it results for good, we are ready to suffer all times it doesn't. As far as I understand human nature, according to my own life, for each success here I am ready to pay with five defeats and consider myself lucky.
Therefore if Jorge is rather patient, he is doing good. And I assume you cannot stand behind such a neigbourhood as RFF, unless you are quite tolerant. Don't you think ?

To be tolerant, "in my book", doesn't mean to be passive. On the contrary. Some folks like me require a lot of effort to make them change their behaviour. As this is your job, I will not lecture the father how to do with children. The only thing I wanted to point your attention to, is to concentrate on the cases you have succeeded, and extract from them the moral strength to face the failures. Failures are emboided in human nature, success is your own merit.

Friendly,
Ruben

i think i have lots of patience too ruben.

i think my track record (of 3 years) as moderator of this fine forum has proven that.

i'm not quite sure but i keep getting the feeling that you are trying to teach me some lessons ruben.
is this so?

joe

a) kindly re-read my posting, as I edited it at the same time you sent yours, and you will find a funny coincidence about teaching the father how to make children.

b) I confess that whenever I perceive what to my ear sounds as a lack of tolerance, I feel a strong desire to say something.

Still my friend,
Ruben

i question the possibility of some failures turning to successes when it comes to the internet.
as in face to face contact, both people must want (at some level) to change.
this is very hard to accomplish sometimes even in person but then i at least have the advantage of seeing a face and hearing a voice.
here on this forum that advantage is not there and so it is easier for others to continue on with their own intolerant ways and completely ignore a voice of reason.

at the core we agree ruben. more flies will be caught with honey than vinegar but the flies must smell the honey first.

Well Guys and Gals, in the spirit of all these Hugs (and Farts), I'd like to 'introduce' myself- my first name is Subhash, and am delighted to be referred to by that. I probably should have thought of when creating my ID, and now find that while I can write on this forum to various first names , the replies to me come to srtiwari, which feels real strange in a conversation. So, if you please, 'srtiwari' only if we're discussing something extremely serious, and Subhash all other times...

Subhash

BTW, Shutterflower can't really be a first name, can it ?

Ah, don't you just love when you're treated like you're family? (I'm serious)

Help yourself to the beer, Joe (don't tell the doc).

No farting, though.
