I picked one up. It's pretty clean and working. It needs new seals, that's not a problem. Anyway has anyone used one. What are they like. I may keep or send it looking for a new home.

I've got one and I like it a lot - I also had to replace the seals, but it wasn't difficult.

It's robust, has a decent rangefinder, auto-exposure works well, and the lens is pretty good (not up to the best of the fixed-lens designs, like the Olympus XA for example, but not a long way behind). In short, it's always in my bag with Delta 400 in it, and I'm often surprised when I find my favourite shots from a session came from the Ricoh and not from my main heavyweight gear.

Have one. I like it very much for it's simplicity. Meter works properly for me too. The lens is pretty good. Sharp enough for practical usage. Colors are rendered somewhat warmish.. Won't sell mine. I guess this little Ricoh is definitly in the top 10 of the "fixed lens rf bang for the bug" category, if not the winner.

The Ricoh 500G offers a great combination of features
that some much more expensive cameras can't match.

This was my first "real" camera, in the early-mid-1970's...

I don't have one, but I saw some sample pics from it in previous threads, the results look nice.

Which thread are you referring to? I'd like to see some sample pictures.
Got one as part of a grab-bag of 4 cameras.

I wonder how it performs compared to Konica C35 and Olympus EC/ECR...
