Does anyone know how to vertically adjust the rangefinder on the Ricoh 500?

I thought the adjustment screw would be under the screw on the top plate, but I can't feel anything in there.

Well, only one of my Ricohs has ever needed a rangefinder adjustment, and it was the Ricoh Mate which has no external access for doing so. My 500 ver2 has what looks like the normal Front/Horizontal - Top/Vertical placement of access screws, but I've never taken them off to make sure that's what they were. Guess you'll have to shine a light down in there to see what is going on.

Great news. I found a device which enabled me to look down the hole in the top plate having removed the screw again. I could see there is an adjustment screw head there. Previously, I was using a screwdriver that was too thick to feel the presence of the slot in the adjustment screw. I have managed to realign the rangefinder. WoooHoooo!

In camera repair, one must "endeavor to persevere". Glad you sorted it out.
