Ricoh 500

I picked up a nice condition Ricoh 500 mainly because I had never used a trigger winder before. I ran a roll of film through it and it turns out evrything works. The only thing that takes a little getting used to is the slightly awkward position of the shutter release. All in all an interesting camera.

One has an f/1.9 lens, the other f/2.8...

Should have said so in the first place. That would have eased my normally confused state. And the answer is 2.8. Now about that prize.

I wish they wouldn't use such a cryptic naming convention.

Seems there is lots of confusion regarding Ricoh cameras caring the 500 name and there are a few.

FWIW Ricoh fans differentiate these models as 519 or 528;
I am not sure these were Ricoh's actual model designations.

Well that might explain it as the camera only says 500 on it. I am not a Ricoh fan but fast becoming one for this model anyway. Only bought it because it was resonably priced, appeared to be working, in good condition and was strange enough with that trigger winder. Nice solid camera IMO. Sometimes you get lucky with your purchases.
