hi all ! it;s my first post in here. :) Im hunting down RICOH 800 EES , but I need to know is there a manual override possible or is it full auto camera ?

What film camera are you shooting with now and why do you want to try a 35mm rangefinder?

Best Regards,

It's a rangefinder with fully manual exposure system, depending on outlawed mercury battery (so you have to either accept error with 1.5V cell or make/buy adapter) which can work properly or not due to age related issues, slow lens and average ergonomics.

Not trying to sound negative about your choice but let's face it - most probably after getting one you'll start looking around to replace it with another camera not suffering from one or all drawbacks.

Hi Dopy. It is a fully automatic camera, like the Olympus ECR. The only way to manipulate the exposure is to change the ASA setting. It has an electronic Sheikosha shutter, which needs two 1,35volts batteries that are not available anymore. You could make do with 2 hearing aid batteries and some aluminium stuffing to make contact and to keep them in place.

Cheers,
Jan
