Hello, I want a 28mm lens.

Ideally, I'd have a nice Leica M/LTM lens, but I'm thinking of starting off with a Ricoh Gr-1 camera for this focal length because they are cheaper than the lenses and P&S's are cool. My plan is to save up, get a nice 28mm lens, then maybe sell the Ricoh (or maybe not).

I've thought about the Contax G camera/lens option but when it as big as a Leica, then I might as well go with Leica. I prefer manual focusing/exposure, and a good viewfinder.

1. How does this lens rate to the rangefinder lens options? Maybe not a fair comparison but from the past I didn't like my Olympus XA/Epic lens but I like my Hexar's. Everyone seems to rave about the GR-1 lens, but it's pretty good wide-open? I intend in shooting in low-light a lot so I'd like good f2.8-f4.0 performance.

2. Out of curiousity, were the rangefinder lenses the same designs as the ones fitted on the P&S's?

3. How is the viewfinder? What's the rough magnification? ~0.5x or something? And are there framelines. What are they like? Black edges, like the epic? Or anything projected (I doubt that).

Got a GR-1s :

The lens is good - better than a XA but noticeably lower contrast than the ASPH Leicas.

I believe the GR lens mounted in LTM is unchanged optically from the GR-1
The viewfinder is small - good enough for purpose but not as clear as the GRD GV-2 or a Leica M; probably on par with the XA.
The frame lines are projected backlit LCD white frames - very good ( Leica should have copied this for the M-240 )

Here is a photo of the GR-1 brochure I took a few years ago showing the framelines:
