Been hanging out to post some pics here since my GR1v arrived a couple of weeks ago. This little miracle does exactly what I hoped it would ... I put some Neopan 400 in it and exposed it at 3200 ... lots of contrast which seems to suit the 28mm focal length and the lens is sharp.

Brilliant camera!

I too feel a bit left out as all I have is a GRD these days. The R1 (the older sister of the GR1) was a wonderful camera, but sold to a new home. Not sure where pictures from that camera are these days.

I think I will go find a metal light post to stick my tongue too.

Starting to get used to my GR1v finally and learning to come to grips with the 28m lens which has been tricky because I'm not really a wide shooter by nature.

Only a roll and a bit have been developed. Was working / sick a lot during the Christmas break, but using it has been great. Just a little snapshot from the first roll.

Just a question - how many of you use the lens shade? I'm curious as to how often it would come in handy, but I never bother carrying it around as the GR1 fits nicely into my coat pocket without it.
 
Haven't bothered with the lens shade at all as the lens seems to cope fine without it and all it does is make the camera harder to carry.

After putting a roll of film in mine at a new years day bash and giving it to a friend and saying ... "here, take some photos because I'm busy with my SLR!" ... I'm impressed with the camera's performance when set on auto everything. It never seems to make a bad exposure decision ... it provides fill flash when needed to cope with back light and all the shots on the roll were perfectly focused. I tend to use it as manually as I can but maybe I shouldn't bother! :D

I've only ever owned one other point and shoot in my life and it put me off the things in a major way ... but it was a Samsung from about fifteen years ago and eventually it hemorrhaged after someone dropped it in the sand which effectively stopped the lens from retracting! :D

I still wish they made a version of the GR1 with a 35mm lens!

I never had a P&S before I got a Ricoh R1. They have a 30/3.5 lens that started my addiction. Moved over to a Bessa T after the R1 tested gravity on a hardwood floor from the top of a TV six feet up. I also was not overly happy with auto everything. The R1 didn't have any of the controls you have on the GR-1v. I do not think you will find another P&S with the qualities (e.g. handling, sharpness) of the Ricoh. It's one of the reasons I am so in love with the GRD III.
