Ricoh GXR A12 50 & 28 Image Thread

Thanks for nice comments.

I have used the VF-2 at the store, but haven`t been convinced to buy it, but lately I have come to see the need for it with glare on the screen. Now to find the money to buy it.

More from the 50/2.5 and 28/2.5.

I am now the only person on this forum using these lenses?

Not so! My 50 is permanently mounted to one GXR. But I cant upload lots to the gallery, don't upload from Tumblr, and sometimes weeks go by without working on images uploaded into LR.

Plus, before losing my middle class salary in July, I had bought an XE1/2lenses, a close-
Out GX1 to upgrade my M43, and now a DP2 Merrill. Now I shoot less film because of development costs, so am rotating among the digitals-- I will post some 50 2.5 images here soon, but I am happy studying yours for now.

I have been looking at my files. I have not used this camera and the lenses enough. They produce wonderful photos. I guess I am hooked on film too much.

Glad for you. It does make a great difference in critical focus.

No color problem in the purple/yellow, like the earlier crimson! Really splendid close ups. I could drink the dew off those petals.

Are you working on a series about water? you've assembled many compelling images of water recently.

I found a nice VF-2 finder. I bought it. I am happy I did. I like it.

Robert,

As of late here in Japan it has rained more than usual. In fact the area just to the north has experience 182% increase in rain over yearly average. Rain clouds hang in the sky everyday! I am tired of it!

Life offers rain, make beautiful images of it and the rest of the water cycle. Though this is easy to say at the height of the dry season in Oregon. One year we had 105" of rain in 9 months. (I'm keeping my Nikonos for that possibility in the coming year.)

I am beginning to wonder why I shoot 35mm film. The results I get from the GXR can be quite stunning. I am thinking medium format for my film needs and the GXR for my 35mm needs.

All photos with the 50mm f2.5. Shot on ISO-Lo with a tripod.

Impressive images guys.
I was thinking of selling mine (I have the A16 24mm - 85mm module) but I am now thinking of expanding my kit to an EVF and another lens module. It's such a handy little camera.

Beautiful shots. Nothing to contribute, but will be keeping an eye on this thread as I have a GXR and S10 on the way, and an A12 28mm might be in my future, should I ever feel I could live with just a 28mm.

Keep up the good work, love both the colours and black and white on display in this thread

Damien, thanks from me, and I think you'll be pleased with the little S10 as an all purpose zoom (I have the P10, from my original GXR kit purchase; it added an extra $20 to the GXR list, and gives me a tiny tiny travel zoom for family trips). Most importantly, the GXR engine will give you a great deal of flexibility in how you shoot, so when you add lensors/lenses

I don't have the A12 28--I came to the GXR after the GRD, and the GRD covers the 28mm world for me--but the 50 is fabulous, and pretty much stays glued to one body (A12 M lenses on the other).

Come back and post when you get your kit. cheerios, R

These are really working the lens, roughening up the usual digital smoothness, getting fire and ghosts and soul. Based on these recent images, I can see the logic of shedding a good deal of 35 film gear--e.g., your handful of lenses in the classifieds--and committing to 'digital native' lenses on Ricoh, Fuji, Sigma.

Hope the upcoming move to the civilized province north of me increases your family's serenity and security. In the meantime, keep us up on your images here....

More. It is the last rice harvest I will see for a long time in Japan. The weight of the rice grains combined with the rain creates wonder still waves of rice.
