Ricoh GXR Clearout?

I couldn't resist either... ordered the A12 28mm f/2.5 module.

I have had the GXR with the A12 50mm module for about a year now, quite happy with it. Especially after I finally got to literally "get in touch" with a lot of cameras I had only heard about... like the Fuji X100, Sony's Nex series etc. Most of them felt so cheaply made, "plasticky", the GXR feels much more like a pro-compact from the 90s, like the Contax T2 or even the Hasselblad XPan. Great grip, superb user-interface, solid buttons.

Too bad I don't have any Leica glass anymore... I gave up my Leica M8 when I rediscovered film, which I still prefer over digital.

Last year in Europe I had the Ricoh GXR and my Plaubel Makina 670. This was a great duo, and very portable. Used the Plaubel mostly for landscape, the Ricoh for all those drunken party shots at my birthday party 🙂

By the way, I don't think the A16 module is as nice in built quality as the A12 modules. AFAIK it's mostly plastic... just in case someone needs to know this.
 
The grip on the GXR can start to feel 'mushy' over time. Apparently it was glued with bad glue and it can start to slip off.

I peeled the rubber grip off and replaced it with fake leatherette from an old folder. The back rubber grip I left off completely and it now feels solid as a brick when I shoot it. 😎

PLEASE someone tell me that focusing is finicky and slow and it has crap ISO3200 colour pictures so that I can sleep normally again.

Ok here you have it, it's the worst value camera on the market at the moment, small sensor, huge flange distance, so impossible to adapt anything but 1st party glass, built of cheap plastic, and it shoots noisy pics like back in 1999 , also it's very widely available everywhere, and about 99% of the photogs have one, almost like a digital rebel 😉
 
I got an interesting comment yesterday from a bunch of friends I had dinner with. Since I've been shooting film for the past little while, they assumed it was yet another film camera. They even commented on how the design seemed like something out of the 1980s, which I found somewhat odd since it wasn't even wearing the A12 M package with a vintage lens.
 
I'm wondering why my A12 always produces two versions of the very same frame. Importing the two raw files into LR 4.3 the color profile completely differs. The first implements the "Adobe standard" profile, the second the embedded profile. Which profile do you guys prefer, please?
 
I am very tempted to buy one. I recently sold my GF1 because it was difficult to use with manual focus and wasn't happy with high ISO quality. Anyone has experiences with both GF1 and GXR?
 
Well, I took the plunge after all the hype. Henry's sent me the S10 , P10 , and A12 (waiting for adapter) went to my local test shot place with another RFF member and gave the S10 and P10 kits a workout. All shot at ISO 100 and program mode .

i love mine, but honestly iso3200 color in low light i personally find unuseable. ive not gone beyond 1600 for color in low light. b&w is fine in low light up to 3200. i highlight 'low light' because there is a difference between shooting high iso in normal light and in low light. color shooting at 3200 is fine in normal light.

no focusing issues at all. griffin if you shoot rf lenses and dont want an m9, you cannot do better than the gxr.
