Wondering if anyone has had a Ricoh LTM 21 or 28 lens opened up for haze removal? I know the Rollei LTM and a couple of CV lenses cannot be opened for cleaning, hoping this is not the case with the Ricohs.
I have personal experience with the Ricoh LTM 21. The rear optical group is a sealed unit. If there's haze in that, it cannot be cleaned. The 21mm I bought had haze there, and after attempting to clean it, I gave up and returned the lens. I think the Ricoh LTM 28 is the same. Both lenses are notorious for developing haze.
I don't know anything about Ricoh lens for LTM, but I have a Canon Serenar 35mm f3.5 that is prone to haze. And opening it once and cleaning is not lasting a year. Someone here said it was the glass formula. Whatever, I open it before every use and clean the lense surfaces. Luckily for me, it is easy to do this. Otherwise, this lens is really nice: well built, strong aperture leaves, smooth operation, and very ergonomic focusing and aperture controls.
