Folks,
I debated with myself about this and finally decided to ask for some help.
After reading here about and going to their web site, I have submitted a photo to JPG Magazine.
(here comes the shameless plug/begging)
I would very much appreciate if y'all could follow the link and, if you honestly like the photo, please vote "yes".
Thank you very much!

I like that rag & that's a good shot for the topic in question. I happily voted for it.

I do like the photo, Rob, but my tendencies lean towards sharpness, especially of botanical stuff (see my website). I also think the blue leaf? in bottom left is a bit distracting for my taste. That doesn't however, detract from the total image. The colors and composition are quite attractive.

Regards!
Don

Ossifan, rover, and Gid: Thanks!
Don, fair enough! I've looked at some of your web site and can see what you mean. Lots of photos there that I liked--I'll be back to spend more time.
The blue thing in the corner of my photo is a candle holder, actually. And I like having it in the corner mainly for the contrast of the colors and secondarily the organic/inorganic(blue glass and red/orange leaves).

The blue bugs me. There's not enough info to let us know what it it is. Totally distracting for me.

In my view, photography is as much about what you leave out as what you include in the frame. If a visual element does not add to the image, it dilutes and detracts from it's impact.

(Hope this doesn't hurt your feelings, it's meant as positive criticism.)

Frank,
Hurt my feelings? With considered, profanity free criticism? Nope! I agree with you about including/excluding things in the frame. For me, the photo needs that bit of blue.

That's fair Rob. To each their own. That's why I so infrequently offer criticisms - it's all subjective anyway. I'm glad not to have offended you.
