Watch out! I'm back in the darkroom.
Experimenting this evening with Rodinal 1:100 Stand Development

trying Fuji Acros 100 @ 50 minutes and Rollei Retro 80S @ 60 minutes. Rollei Retro has some shockingly wicked purple dye that come out in the pre-wash.

That purple is probably an anti-halation layer. I do a lot of stand myself, have fun!

I just did a roll of Acros 100 120 in Rodinal 1+50...
It's still rinsing for now and in a bit once all the pink dye comes off I'll put it in some Photo-Flo and hang up for the night...
I haven't done any Stand Developing lately (or with the Acros 100) but maybe I'll try a roll just for fun...

These are the results of my first attempt at stand/semi-stand development with Rodinal 1:100 , 50 minutes @ 68F, 30 secs initial agitation then about 5 secs at the 25 minute mark. Fuji Acros 100, Olympus OM-4T , 85mm Zuiko 2.0

One thing I did notice, if you take a shot of dark vertical objects - it seems that the development of the dark object has some impact on the area above it. In one case I had a skyline shot - and it seems like the sky above the dark buildings is lighter than either side of the sky away from the building - not sprocket hole effects either.
Rodinal seems to mute the really bright whites, so perhaps a good technique when faced with a high contrast scene. mostly I was pleased with the results - might have to pursue this. Although I have to say , it doesn't save any time, you do still need to be around and watch the clock

The Roots festival was last summer, the lovely young lady with the sunglasses was from Dec 2011 on vacation. The North ave beach shots were from this past Sunday. Yep, getting thru some backlog 🙂

I did some stand with Adox 9x12, and noticed a white line above a dark roof of the building I was photographing. The rest of the sky was a little darker. I posted it but I don't recall I got no suggestions as to what it was or how to prevent it. I be watching this thread to see if somebody can help you on this with something that might help me if I try it again.

Funny. I just had some Adolux (Rodinal clone) arrive from Freestyle. I had purchased it particularly to try out with Neopan 100 (1:100 stand development) as I have always had trouble controlling the highlights with XTOL/rotary processing. I like the tonal scale in your test negs. Are these straight from the scanner or have you monkeyed with the curves?

Any difference between 50 minutes and 100 minutes with this film/dilution?

These were all scanned and the curve adjusted to taste in Aperture.
In retrospect I think the root festival is a little to white, other than that I'm happy wih the results

The photos most all look a bit too bright on my screen ( but since I can see the tonal gradation in most of them, it could just be my screen ). I've never done Rodinal stand development, as I'm a 1:50 guy. While I feel I'm relatively patient, an hour to develop is bit too much for me!

user Clint Troy makes a good point that consistency in technique vs recults is pretty crucial otherwise you jeopardize your potentially priceless negatives
