This post is in reference to this three part series:

http://figitalrevolution.com/?s=stand+development

I just ran three rolls of 35mm TMY-2 (rated @ 640) and one roll of Tri-X (rated @ 400) and I'm really impressed. Grain was extremely fine with the TMax 400 and greatly reduced with the Tri-X when compared to straight Rodinal (2.5ml per roll x 60min with initial agitation and none after first thirty seconds) Sharpness (acutance) was slightly reduced with the Rodinal/Xtol. Tonality and dynamic range was very nice.

Overall, I like the results better than straight Rodinal stand for the Tri-X, except where I want the larger grain structure of Tri-X in Rodinal. This is my first time trying TMY2, so I can't compare.

Take a look at the three parts above and see if it is worth a try. I'm interested in hearing how this formula works with various films. BTW: I did use the Borax and Acetic Acid additives.

I would like to hear from others that have tried the above.

Fuji Neo 1600

Fuji Neo 1600

I don't know if anyone else is interested in this Rodinal/Xtol, but so far Neo 1600 shot at 1200 seems to show some potential. Two hours stand with initial agitation per the above link and my Epson V750 scanned without any need for adjustments of any sort. Tri-X shot at 400 and left for two hours was overexposed and rather contrasty. I think that 60-75 minutes would do the trick, or shot at 640-800 and run for two hours. Just guessing.. So far TMY-2 seems about right at 90 minutes.

Here are some low light (lit by aquarium tank) Neopan 1600 @1200:

I'll throw a kink into the discussion, I use HC-110h for TriX (EI 250). I just couldn't seem to get friendly with Rodinal for this film. But I did like the highlight control that Rodinal had with it, so I used my normal 500ml of dilution h HC-110, and added 2ml of Rodinal to the 500ml. I've only done two rolls. But things look good so far. Interesting subject: mix developers. I don't even know if something is really there but I know I like TriX at 250 done this way.

I just shot a roll of Tri-X at 6400 ISO and did a 2 hour stand in Rodinal. In my limited experience it did not seem any more grainy than Tmax 3200. I did 5ml in 500ml (1:100) with 30 seconds agitation and a swirl every 30 minutes.
