Have both but I only need one of them. I thought let's keep the best... Took a couple of pics with a NEX-5 and a M-adapter. I can't really tell which is sharper or has the best resolution and constrast. At infinity the Rokkor seems better and at one meter the Canon might be the winner.

For pics look further down...

Right click and "view image" !! And, the DOF @ 1 meter is 6cm with the Canon and 4cm with the Rokkor. Focus should be at the apple like thing there...

Yes. It has better resolution also. I shot RAW, converted to TIF and finally JPG. Both are pretty impressive and equals my Summicron 35 ver.2.
I'll try to put up the infinity pics too.

Four more pics. All at infinity and shot at f2 and f5.6. Rokkor has better resolution, especially at f2. Vignettes more too.

Deleted because I have used too much bandwidth!

Last pictures and conclusion. Rokkor has better detail in corners. It vignettes more than Canon at f2. Canon has better coating (dampens the stray light and reflections better) and better center resolution. At f5.6 both are very good.

What Raid said. I also have both, and would sell another lens before parting w/ either of these. I agree that the Canon 35/2.0 is sharper overall, but I like the microcontrast on the Rokkor 40 and I also like the 40 fov.

OP: I agree w/ backalley that your photos are too large to easily load and see. Could you try reducing the file size of each photo somewhat and reposting?

One option is to embed smaller sized images into the thread and to post a link for large sized images for people who want o carefully inspect a very large image.
