RFF Community,

You may have seen my recent posts showing my 3D printed Accessory Shoe Doubler in the DIY Forum and in the Classified Sections of RFF. It was my first project with a new 3D printer and I wanted to create something useful for my vintage camera hobby. I learned a lot and sold a few.

Well, here is my second project.....a 3D printed Square Lens Hood for my Rollei 35.

I researched the original design and preferred the square look to the standard round after-market style. My design features a friction fit that "locks" into a channel over the non-rotating part of the lens assembly. The tricky part was creating enough room to allow my fingers to adjust the focus ring. The final result is shown here.

Comments welcome. Thanks.

Ouch, those are expensive. If someone has a lens I could borrow for a week or two, I could work one up. SW

The shoe accessory works great. I'm so impressed (and a little jealous). I've been thinking of getting into 3D printing and have the technical skill but lack the imagination to do projects like this. One I see something like this that has a market, is extremely useful, relatively inexpensive compared to the real thing all I can think of is - why didn't I think of that?

Steevo, let me know when you have for sale, I'll be your 1st customer.

Thanks all for the comments. I plan on moving forward designing accessories like these. I will keep these ideas as I move forward. Thanks.

Keep them coming!

Keep them coming!

I bought one of the double shoes, and it performs as expected. I'll buy a hood for my Rollei 35 as soon as you put it on the market.

Your work with 3d printing shows that it is possible to re-create small volume, but really useful items. Keep up the good work.

Do you have the print files for this. Id like to make a change abd print it

I also bought one of the double shoes. Very nice!

I don't think I need a square hood for my little Rollei, but I can hardly wait to see what the next project will be. Hopefully something I want/need...
