rollei 40/2.8 sonnar...finally!

Joe,

I envy you your ability to use a bunch of different equipment until you find what works for you. I'm way too anal, and it takes me much too long to research and make a decision.

One of the best lenses in the 40 focal length. Similar fingerprint to the last 50/2.8 Elmar-M or 45/2.8 Nikkor Ai-P, both modern highly corrected Tessars. It's modest speed, scarcity and relatively high price made it less desirable to the well regarded 40 Summicron-C.

Congrats joe! That's a gem and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

By the way, the 'generic' LTM to M adapter that comes with this particular lens is actually the original adapter that came with the package. Don't lose it. The original package comes as shown in the auction, but with a Voigtlander M rear lens cap instead of the LTM one that you are getting.

Cheers,

Hi! i´m waiting for mine to be precessed by customs, hope it will be in my hands sooooooon, i can`t wait any longer!!!!

Congratulations!!!!

Congrats on the lens, Joe! I do wonder why you got it though (and for the price - WOW - that baby aint cheap for a f2.8 lens) - you already have cv 40/1.4, Canon 35/2.8 and 50's 1.5 and 2.5. Where does this one fit in?
I too would like to see some pics from it, most I have seen were from 4/3 cameras, so film or RD1 would be interesting.

Congrats. I tried out such a lens in the marathon 35mm-40mm lens comparisons. It did very well among the 25 or so lenses.

yes, the price was a bit much but this may be the last lens that i buy...
i like the look of this lens, from images that i have seen on the net and i really like the fov of a 40 on the rd1.
plus, i have been longing for it for at least 6 years.
