Rollei Retro 100 and Rodinal = a trip back through history.

Some more examples of Rollei Retro 100 in Rodinal 50+1 ... I think it's the tonality of this film that totally draws me in!

I like PanF+ almost as much at times but for pure tonal perfection this film is hard to beat IMO!

Thanks Blue Rollei ... that was with an FM3A and 50mm f1.4 ZF Planar. The film definitely complements the qualities of the Zeiss lens IMO ... and vice versa!

Yes. I've also used it for architecture and some portraits, but you're right, it doesn't suit everything, unless you want to put your artistic vision into a dark, dark place. You'd need a perennial soundtrack of Joy Division and Gorecki. I digress.

Nothing in particular: development in Rodinal 1:100 at 20 ° C for 20 minutes, stop bain and fixing by Ilford Hypam. I believe that tonal extension of this combination is due to the very moderate agitation: 2 reversals of the tank every 30 seconds for the first ten minutes, then just one, quite sweet, with slow movement.

In german Aphog Forum Maco recently wrote something concerning APX100 (rebranded as Rollei retro 100) and the successors RPX 100 and RPX 400.

Short summary: As to date, around 40.000 units of 135-36 Retro 100 are on stock, and 20.000 expected to be stocked up in March/2011.
And around 350 30,5meter units.

RPX: In November the first first poduction is being delivered in 135-*, 120 is scheduled for delivery in December.

Cubic Crystals like APX.

I have about 1000 rolls of APX100/Retro 100, the 1st few batches of Retro were literally rebranded APX100, then the 2nd and subsequent batches were the APx100 emulsion of a Rollei base. Very very little between them.
It would be my main film to shoot anywhere between 50 and 320.

AFAIR RPX-135 only two-roll-container, 120 single roll.

Retro 100 (APX) in 135 has been sold also in single container (have still 20 pcs. in freezer), but nowadays in the new packaging/lot only two-film-container. But in the shop there ist still the 50-pcs-box with a picture of single boxes. Your mileage may vary ;-)

Maco has distribution partners outside Germany- maybe you could check on them also?

I'm going to stock up R-R 100 one last time. 50pcs of 36-frame rolls, €1,43 per roll (+ shipping) is simply too good an offer to let go.

i've taken three years to make up my mind about what to shoot and I have settled on APX100 & APX400 in Rodinal.

The Rodinal was my main weapon of choice as its really hassle-free (and I'm a bit sloppy), the best shots I got from my last few years of shooting-anything-anywhere were all either RolleiRetro or Fomapan.

I've stocked up on 3 x 100ft Retro400 and 50 rolls of Retro100 and might get me some more next month. Wife is uttering strong language, something about fridge space, cucumbers and yoghurt?

Once the Rollei is gone, it will be all Fomapan with me.

I was late to join the film camp - started just two years ago. Bought more than 100 rolls of APX 100 from maco last year, but foolishly sold most of them before the recent huge price increase. Fortunately I still have about 15 rolls in the freezer. 🙂
