Yes, I did use flash on these, and yes I agree - for the portrait shots, I should have used my Tele Rolleiflex for the more flattering compression and isolation. BUT for some reason, I'm really enjoying shooting portraits with a wide-angle lens. I like getting more of the environment in the shot, but I recognize that with a wide I need to be more aware of everything - especially all the crowds and those tree branches. 🙄

I think this is one example where aggressive post processing can salvage so so snap shots. The ideal camera/lens should have been something that can isolate the interesting subjects from the distracting background. I think the FW was the wrong choice; I would use a wide angle only if the background is interesting.
