Highway 61
Revisited
I have been looking for this picture for years, having seen it once in the 1990's only.
Well, I found it by chance in a newspaper this morning.
It was shot by Sanford Roth around 1960-1961. One can see Romy Schneider holding the black SP and Luchino Visconti in the background.

Two beautiful ladies, a young Romy still full of life and a Nikon. Visconti on the other hand looks very pensive.

Lovely picture. But what lens is Romy using?

from the size it could be an external mount 5cm 1.1, or maybe a 8.5cm 2.0, but I'm not sure either..
beautiful women with a beautiful camera

You guys honestly scare me, here you have a picture of a beautiful woman and you ask what lens she is using
Photographers really seem to be obsessed with equipment.

I like beautiful women and beautiful camera gear.
Sanford's SP is shown with the ubiquitous 5cm /f1.4 Nikkor lens with a lens hood in this photo that looks a lot like the one Romy has on that Sanford's Nikon SP she is holding.

Wonderful photo of a pure beauty...and the camera is nice, too. Here's the picture they were working on:

Looks like a chrome 28mm screw in lens hood. I presume that in 1960 the Nikon "snap on" lens hoods fell off their lenses as easy as nowadays.

It could be any of the series 6 or 7 lens hoods made by Kodak or Ednalite or Tiffen or Walz with the appropriate lens adapter for the given lens.
These work as good as any; if not better than the lens manufacture's own optional lens hood.

A better version of the same photo :

Priceless shot. The way she pushes the camera against her cheek.
Interesting to see that in those years even pros used leather cases for their cameras.

My father who was Hungarian (of an Austrian persuasion) always claimed that Romy was a distant cousin, informed at least by the fact that his mother was a Schneider.
I recall him saying that his brother had prepared a family tree and that showed a connection to Romy. But then again he was always one who loved to tell tales and Schneider was a fairly common name in that neck of the woods. So I never got to the bottom if it before he passed away.
But I can say that if it was true, she came from the better looking part of the family.
I once saw a picture of her diving from a yatch into the mediteranean somewhere in the south of France bare assed nekkid. I cna testify that cousin or not she had a great butt in addition to everything else.
She did have similar tastes in cameras to me though!
