Run for your lives: the "Sultan of Brunei" gold Leica is back!

Well But HE IS the Richest man in the world ...........

I thought that Billy and Warren beat him out a few years back?

And, stupid question from a non-Leica person here? Is that a real Leica? Where did it really originate? I mean I'm sure it's not the Sultan's own, but ...

First, a disclaimer: despite living in Brunei, I am not Bruneian and have no connection whatsoever to the Sultan (unfortunately ).

This particular Leica may not be to my taste but I have to admit that having a special edition Leica made as a present for guests is a sign of better taste than ordering bling bling from a renown jeweler.

Cheers!

How can we be on the Sultans guest list for the next time he gives out these said gifts. :)

I think it would be a cool camera to use. I would throw it in my backpack every day and use the hell out of it, 'til it was dinged, dented and scratched, and the brass was showing through the gold. It's great camouflage, who would take you seriously?

So, the sultan wants to trade it in for a M9. Understandable. The auction sites on the Net is full of cheap M6s, these days. This one is a little more expensive.

Well the king of Thailand had the same model...so I think He's looking for something very exclusive...maybe a gold MP with 35/1.4????:cool:but it's becoming a coool thread:D

Yes, photo arsenal is the only place you can spend almost as much on a 20 year old M6 classic as a MP from most other places. Never understood how they stay in business. I mean, who buys a regular M6 for $2k?

The Sultan has exquisite taste.
