The M6 0.85 only had a run of just over 3100 units
that's the classic and not the TTL? i have one of the latter.

"M6 owners have been brainwashed into thinking their cameras are inferior by M2 owners?"
What brainwashing? Bwa Ha ha Ha Ha!

My M5s need red dots!
Actually, it's the M5 owners running the M2 gang, and convincing the M6 owners to go digital so when their cameras are sold, they'll have another one for the collection.

BTW - the M7 is being discontinued and the MP will soon only be available through the a-la-carte program.
that's a good one

That's a joke, right?

everything is temporary..
yeah they need to devote kapital to the S2......or maybe it's labor? I'm sure leica AG is very labor intensive.

Wow - that's kind of a shocker. Where did you hear the news, Bill?
C'mon... it totally makes sense! How many people could there possibly be in the world willing to spend $4,400 on a film camera (body only) when the rest of the world is buying full-frame digital cameras starting at about half that number?
Well, it’s not such a shock to me anyway.
My source told me all standard M7 production has stopped and once the current inventory runs out (about 3,000 cameras), they’ll be gone – but as long as there are parts, a-la-carte M7s will continue to be made available.

At photokina the Leica rep. said that sales of M7/MP are very stable and that those cameras will be produced for a long time to come.
better check your sources instead of starting the millionth rumor how analog is about to die ...

This fact played a small factor for me, but I got that model for use with 50mm and up lenses.

I just sold my M6ttl here for what I think was a complete bargain. Although it does have a little wear on the outside, when Will van M serviced it he said he couldn't find any wear inside at all. The ONLY reason I sold was because it never got used since I got the MP.

I know I will regret selling mine someday, but I already have a black paint MP that needs using rather than sitting on the shelf, plus I need to raise cash for (gulp) not ditital, but even older Barnack bodies
The pricing point made earlier is interesting too - mine probably owes me $1400, but I know that $1200 is about the tipping point pricewise. Ah wel, it's only money.........

How many is enough?
Generalizing a bit here, but I see a greater number of quality type gear being sold here over the last two weeks.
I think its a combination of 3 or 4 reasons we're seeing this.
1- some people are selling off their duplicate film bodies, since they may be shooting less film than before, they feel their cameras are not getting enough healthy exercise; AND... if they also own a MP or M7, then they are choosing to let go of their "pedestrian" M6.
2- I see a pattern that many of the sellers are prolific sellers here. They probably are buying and selling as a side business.
3- Maybe the economic downturn IS forcing some to raise cash.
4- just a statistical quirk.

Oh. Silly me - you can't - it's only a rumour that "...totally makes sense!"
Why wrap your opinions as "fact"?

We're all light!
My definition of a "run" would indicate a bull market for M6s, whereas most everyone here seems to be talking bears. Wouldn't mind picking up a "cheap" M7 or M6 (TTL or "classic") myself, but I think a used black ZI would be a better fit, not to mention cheaper still.
