"Russian Leica" on eBay

Nothing New

Especially when you can buy a counterfeit Leica from FSU dealers for a lot less.

This seller has the highest prices in the world, I don't know how many they get to fall for their items.

Besides, a Luftwafe variation is grey and most were IIIC's, IIRC.

This guy has had a small rash of highly questionable auctions recently. Not too long ago he sold a (genuine) IIIc to a RFF member with a lens he fervently claimed to be a real 50mm Elmar but was clearly an I-22 (aperture dial, engraving style gave it away.)
I don't get it--with the depth of material he has for sale is it even conceivable that he could think this to be a genuine Leica? I really don't think so...

It makes you groan every time you see it. The paint is already falling off. The case in in excellent condition though!

Ugh. This must be about the ugliest colour in the world. My grandmother had a pre-WWII toilet that looked like this.

The lens egraving is neater than most I've seen but weren't Leitz marked "f=5cm" or something? Did I miss the "Leica" engravings on the camera? I don't see it anywhere. The camera looks like it's been dipped, whole, in paint if it weren't for the VF/RF windows being still clean! They even painted the screws. That's a disgusting colour too, plus the paint is chipped already! As for the price...surely no-one would...or would they?

I also notice that the body has no lens-mount accent stripe, suggesting an early body, yet the release spring is the later short type. Likely to be a parts-job too then.

Unless ebay changed their policies this item should be or will be taken off by ebay(if someone reports this auction) because of the swastika on the camera.

I was the member who bought the genuine IIIc and the fake Elmar. The camera is in beautiful shape but the lens was definately a fake - (I should have done my homework better and spotted the fake before bidding - more experienced RFF members helped me). I did get a prompt refund on the lens - even before I shipped it back. I got a real Elmar in beautiful condition elsewhere.

And yet, he's had 3700+ feedback transactions w/99.8% positive rating. Go figure.

At that price, I'd say the "poor little Zorki" is at the high-point of his career! ;)

I'm not proud of it, but want to share it anyway. :bang:
I bought this camera at a car boot sale from a not-to-bright looking guy, it seems I myself was the not-to-bright guy...
Circomstances in my favor:
  • It was terrible weather,
  • the camera sat in a worn eveready case,
  • I wasn't wearing my reading glasses.

Lesson learned: If it looks to good to be true, it probably is.

(Luckily I didn't pay too much money for it, it still is a nice camera in full working order)

Nice Zorki-2C and it looks like a reasonable paint job, if a bit over the top. (They could have done without the swastika though.)

I doubt if this is the same or if it is must have been painted again (since multiple posts from 2007 says that paintjob is poor or failing).

BUT it's good looking still and I would love to own one. Never seen fake Leica but bottom line is that those third reich eagle/swastika engravins are instant fake signs to spot one.
