Hi!

I have understood that russian lenses like Jupiter 8: 50/2.0,

Industar 50: 50/3.5 and Industar 61 L/D can fit

Bessa L. What about Jupiter 12? I have read warnings

about trying it on a Bessa L but does it exist new

improved versions of that lens which possibly could fit

Bessa L? Certainly you have had these questions before

but I would be grateful if you would share your

knowledge to a newcomer once more.

The jupiter 12 will not fit the bessa and even if it did, the meter would not work,
as the rear element group blocks the meter cell.
For the entire bessa line, the J-12 rear element goes too far into the body and strikes the inside of the body.
The jupiter 12 only barely fits soviet bodies, and often requires the rangefinder arm to be bent up slightly to clear the rear lens cluster.

The jupiter 12 will not fit the Leica M5 or CL either, and on other leica models, the TTL metering is obstructed.

Still the jupiter 12 is a worthwhile lens. I like the black ones from the 1980s.

I have measured J12 using callipers and there is no doubt - J12 can damage shutter of Bessa.
J8 and I61 L/D are OK. I use J8 a lot and I61 occasionally. You can see results on my RFF gallery.

cheers

The J12 will not fit the Bessa but fits any Fed or Zorki, and it also fits on any Leica M for that matter. 😛

The Jupiter 12 works great on Barnack Leicas. I use mine on my IIIf RD. Of course, there are no internal metering components, so there is no interference. See mine in the photo at left.

I have a bessa L and I asked the same question? The j12 don't fit. From what little I have learned 50mm lenses on a bessa Ls are not the best to use on this camera because of having to guess focusing because it has no rangefinder coupling capibilities. 35mm or the way to go using this camera. My biggest problem is deciding on which one to get. I want the 25/4 but all the photos with the 15/4 are awsome. Good luck on your lenses..🙂
