RX100 Does Spain

Recent trip took me to Madrid, so I took the high-speed rail to Toledo and strolled both cities. Decided the RX100 was the camera to shoot, since there was a lot of street candids to capture. I'm finding the little Sony a wonderful travel companion.

I found Spain really good for photography when we visited last year. That was, unfortunately, before I got an RX100, but I'm sure that I would have found it (as you did) to be a great travel camera.

Thanks everyone. I'll post a few more. I have to admit, I miss a real viewfinder, but the RX100 seems to handle everything pretty well.

I agree... that's my only real gripe about the RX100. Aside from that, it's just amazing for a camera that fits easily into a pocket.

Do you shoot RAW or jpeg? I'm curious how much is down to post-processing, and how much is straight from the camera.

Either way, great shots. That little camera does seem capable, and your way of seeing the world is always enjoyable.

Trev, I'm shooting RAW and the b&w goes through SilverEfex Pro 2 (just like my Fuji X100), whereas the color gets tweaked in Apple Aperture (basically, curves). That being said, the Sony seems to expose a bit to the right so occasionally I have to recover a bit of highlight, but I'm just dropping the exposure a bit on the RAW file and then adjusting the curve.

Overall, I think the RAW files coming out of the RX100 pocket rocket are just as malleable as RAW files from my Fuji, and I think that's saying something. I'm honestly astonished and quite pleased.

As far as the shooting experience, nobody looks twice at me when I whip it out of a pocket in the train station, in restaurants, in hotels, or on the street. It's quite remarkable to be invisible.
