We have a Millennium Nikkor-S 50/1.4 serial number registry already, so here's the S3 2000 and S3 2002 serial number registry (I've called the S3 Limited Edition Black the "S3 2002" to differentiate it from the "S3 2000". 2002 is the year it went on sale).

First one is:

S3 2002 (black): 302151

Hmm. I know why I put xx' in the numbers. I am usually to lazy to unearth the camera and read the whole number!

Dear wjlapier.... people put xx or xxx in the serial number only for defense your self from law or to impedite outlaw to make misfact, i explain a little well...

First:
if a guy have stolen a camera and try to sell it xxx is util to hide the misfact...

Second:
one time i have try to sell a rare black Nikon rf, the week after there was three of them on sell, with my photos and sn, on three different bid web... so, if i will decide to sell it another time, necessary i will have to had the famigerate, but necessary, xxx...

In this world of thiefs!!!!!

I have decided that every month is Nikon Rf month now. I have been shooting with Kodak's XX film and alternating between Nikon reloadable cassettes and Leica's IXMOO cassettes. I usually roll up 50+ IXMOO and 24 Nikon cassettes and that lasts about a month.
At the moment I have a few of the Nikon's to finish off. They are intended for my early SP (the 309th made!) and the incomparable 105f2.5. We are heading to Japan next Sunday for 11 days so I better finish these rolls this week. I hate going somewhere and have unprocessed film stacked up.

No, the s/n on the body and lens are not matching, though later s/n bodies tend to have later s/n lenses.
