I am thinking about buying Nikon S3 2000. I cannot take it anymore as a bystander. What is a fair price for a new one on ebay. And do you guys think the price will go down soon, stay the same or expect it to go up. thanks for you help.

At this level of pricing, I believe they are going to sell fast, I do believe that a couple of years from now, one will regret not buying at todays prices. What are you guys thinking, a used M6 and lens cost this much!!

I saw the last one sold around $1800 via ebay.

Good luck and welcome to the elite S3 2000 group(only 10,000 made including black)...don't forget some have 3 of 'em!!

I bought mine from B&H for $2,300. By far the most I ever paid for a camera and lens, but I haven't regretted it. It's been a daily user. I have an original S3 that had been my favorite camera for 15 years.

from a US seller, the lowest price seems to be $2,295 from B&H.
it has been priced like this for some time now.

>>I do believe that a couple of years from now, one will regret not buying at todays prices.<<

Mine has shot 50 to 100 rolls of film in the past year and is beginning to show some wear. So it won't be an investment camera. I'm using it mainly to document my family.

I remember seeing a Japanese gentleman buying the only original black Nikon SP I ever first saw, in 1991 at Alt Camera in Toronto.
the price was an astounding $4000 CAD.
Alt had the motordrive for this camera priced seperate, but I cannot recall the price.
that black paint SP was in Ex++ shape and something like that will be priced in the $27,000 USD range in Tokyo today.
So what seems pricey today will be seen as a steal in the future.

Rob,that seems like a super deal for the black S3 kit.
Matsuiystore on the bay wants way than what you paid for a black S3.

I don't know if any black SP is worth $27000 US these days...unless it was Mint in the box...
Exactly my point though...ain't gonna get cheaper, not at the present prices,as The NHS webmaster said,
BUY NIKON NOW!

once the older collectors start to die off, there should be a mini glut of Nikon rf gear on the market in a few years time.

Have you noticed how long photographers live.
Everyone lives to be in their 90's. I wouldn't wait for people to die off. Photographers who do what they want with their lives seem to live forever.

I hope you'll share your thoughts about it after you receive it. Is this the one from seller "bune"?

alot of these gents( and they are mostly male) seem to be collectors and not so much as photographer as such.
there must be some teraputic benefit from handling undeveloped film that leads active photographer to great longevity.

A great many of the cameras coming up on EBay clearly seem to be from someone's closet. They were bought as kits 40 or 50 years ago, used with enthusiasm for awhile, then carefully put away.

It's just a matter of time before the many US sellers realize they HAVE to bring their prices down in order to sell...I saw a camera store in Japan selling a Black S3 limited for 210,000 Yens(do the math). True, it only lasted for two days. but it does make these cameras well within the budget of users yearning for a Nikon RF they have been dreaming of, for years and years and years.....
