S3 Olympic with a (alleged) special provenance

PS For anyone who doesn't know Tomatsu's work, he took some astounding pictures in Nagasaki in the late 40s and early 50s capturing the lingering devastation and wounds. There was a show, much praised, at the SF Museum of Modern Art a few years ago called, I think, Skin of a Nation. A great photographer. I don't know if he's still living.

Can not speak to the provenance but the price is way out of line for an Olympic S3 without the Olympic 50/1.4 lens. That lens is the "allure factor" of the Olympic S3 Kit. Without it you have a metal curtained black paint S3 with a vanilla 50/1.4 & an undocumented provenance...definitely not a 5 grand kit IMHO.

Tomatsu is one of Japan's most famous and inspirational photographers of all time, still alive I believe (born in 1930).

Regardless of the camera price, if this was actually his camera I imagine it would be worth more than the asking price on the collectors market. But as you said, it's just an allegation with no proof whatsoever.
