Sad Sad Day... M3 fell from my car into the gutter...

What a sad sound that was, the dull thump of my M3 falling from my SUV into the dry gutter. If a man screams, I screamed. I am so bummed.

Guess it could be much worse, it seems like its just the scar and no internal damage, my 35 'cron is fine. But for 50 years this camera has been well cared for, and then me...... damn.

Well,
While upsetting - if camera works fine that little ding isn't all that. My M3 is more beatup than that and works ok. Keep in mind - it's not to be babied, but to be used. If a fall happens - and it survives - even more points to your M3. My wife's lil digi cam fell - lens nearly came off, camera is a waste now. $400 down the drain. And it fell on a carpeted floor from the table!. So, trust me - this experience only shows how good of a descision you made by going with Leica and not some other camera.

Joshua:

Look at it as a battle scar. Leica Ms are designed for hard use. My two M3s have many nicks and scratches, the consequences of long and productive lives.

When you look at it compared to Winogrand's maybe it doesn't have enough dings. Perhaps now you can consider yourself liberated from the money end and just concentrate on the camera end. :)

Perhaps that was Gary's secret.
