i've been reading up on various photographers and came across National Geogrphic photog Sam Abell. i was smitten with his minimal approach and "quiet, compelling style." researcning on the web i came across this bunch of video shorts of Abell talking about his work. WOW! what an eloquent speaker on his craft!

i especially liked "most meaningful photograph."

Thats great, thanks 🙂 I've been on that site a few times but I never saw the video interviews 🙂

edit: By the way, I've got a national geogrphic photography book with Sam Abell shots, and the dude uses Leica M's 🙂

Great photographer. there is a little section about him and the way he shoots in National Geographic Photo Guide. For efficiency he only works with 2 lenses (28mm and 90mm) and two leica bodies.

This isn't specific to Abell, but if you like to see interviews w/documentary photographers & have broadband internet access, a good place to check out is The Photography Channel:

thank you for that link!

yes, i really like watch/hear photographers talk about how they go about their work. even if i'm not initially drawn to their pictures i at least see where they are coming from and i inevitably learn something new.

i've watched a few of those vids and i know i will eventually watch them all!
