Been looking at a used 90 Cron LTM or M, and have an interest in an 85mm f/2 Nikkor in LTM... Prices are similar..but the Nikkor may be smaller (by a little)..
Can I see samples of the Nikkor to those that own one.
F/2, f/4 mainly... I tend to use whatever I get at the top 2 f/stops, mainly.
Much appreciated.

Why didn't you say something? Bubba could have arrived with several lenses. I'll look for some samples. In the meantime, I thought there was a dedicated thread for this lens.
In a nutshell: Sharp. Wide open or not. Gorgeous creamy smooth Sonnar look. A really nice lens. Heavy in chrome.

If you indeed find a Summicron 90 LTM for cheap, buy it and re-sell it. It has collector's value.
I have both 90/2 v3 and Nikkor. Both are excellent and a bit different (Mandler design vs. Sonnar). Here are two representative samples. Also, have a look at the flickr M-mount forum for many other pictures taken with both lenses.
Nikkor:
Summicron:
Both at f2.8 or so.
Best,
Roland.

I only had the mula for Bubba and an under $400 lens at the time...
I got the beautiful f/1.5 Summarit today. (check the Arrived in the Mail thread for a few images). By the end of the month (Feb), I'll have the balance of the estate...Then I'm going on a major GAS attack!.. I'll have to get the f/1.1 Nokton plus a few others...I Can PM you if you want to know.
EDIT:
Great samples in first post....thanks

Snip Photos to save Bandwidth.
Both at f2.8 or so.

The Cron seems to a bit more contrasty, or is this done in Post.
Both have excellent sharpness and great OOF Boken.

Chrome Nikkors are under $400. This thread is making it hard to decide: keep mine or sell it.

I favor the Nikkor 105 2.5 LTM over the 85mm 2.0. It also is razor sharp.

That's correct (no difference in post). Also, if you pixel peep, the cron is a bit sharper in the corners. But then again, for portraits, the Nikkor "center punch" is useful, IMO. Here is for size comparison (ignore Bertha on the right). Earlier Summicrons are bigger and heavier.

I had been in the same dilmena, but Nikkors are a wee cheaper. Summicron 90 start at $500, but you can find Nikkors for $300.
Here are some examples of the LTM, used with adapter on a M3.

This one was shot at 5.6 - a little outside your range. But I'll post it anyway. From an 85 that I picked up recently for $250 off ebay.
