As the holidays start, a lot of folks are wondering what photo toys Santa will leave in their stockings. I think of all the new, breakthrough digital cameras Santa could leave me, but that’s not what I need. I need to pursue more time trying to take good pictures and then showing them to other people. (I should probably spend less time photographing my dog.) Do you think Santa can put a better work ethic in my stocking? If he can’t, I suppose I’ll take a new, fancy camera. There certainly are some nice toys out there. What do you want Santa to bring you?
 
I am happy gear-wise but I do need money to service a Barnack (hole on the curtain) and a Voigtlander TLR with a foggy Heliar. I suppose I need to sell the gear I don't use.
 
More opportunities, and the time, to shoot subjects that I'm interested in.

Oh Yeah, that and World Peace naturally. :angel:

After selling my perfectly fine Zorki-1 because I had bought three Leicas, I have come to my senses and Santa is supplying a Zorki-1 and J-8, both newly CLA'd.

I might let Santa buy me a new DSLR, my present one is almost ten years old. But Santa won't bring me what you want; which is for me, like you, get and take pictures. In the last month I've tried harder, I find having a camera with me always helps.
 
With amount I have to take pictures of and sell, I'm looking at Brown Dog to bring me new toy, not Santa.
 
Minor White wrote that the photographer is not done until photo is shown to others.

More of a New Year's resolution: Show photos to others. Lots of different ways to do so.
 
I got a new to me like new D3 to replace the one that got flooded. Now back to a nice pair.

An new Macbook Pro, 8 gb and a fast processor. Nice travel machine that replaces the air that has a dead motherboard.

Secret will be what woodworking tools Santa brings . I am graduating from power tools to craftsman hand tools. The shop will be hybrid.
 
I have enough photo gear, I'm hoping for a new Digital Audio Player for my Flac file collection.

I've asked Santa (my wife) every year of the 40 we have been married for a Lamborghini; but, alas, it has never appeared.

No gear for me but a couple of photography books. Which ones? I don't know, it must be a surprise! I'm sure my wife who knows my taste will tell Santa what I would like to see under the tree...

Thanks for Col Santa I have the missing piece to make my gift from my youngest work! My youngest is trying to get me a LN- X-E2 in black. I'm very excited as it's been many years since I gotten a gift and it's what I really really want (I had to correct his aim a bit as my oldest and wife had him going with a different camera). About three years after I left home I was going to buy my Father a Nikon but he was too sick with cancer to walk so my now ex nixed it. We were living from pay check to pay check till then, I felt bad I couldn't do it earlier but he knew I loved him.

My sons both had really big smiles the other night (Hanukkah) when the opened the gifts that I found at Walmart on major sale back in August. Hefty power bricks, about the size of an Leica M, but heavier to power they phones and stuff. They were very surprised as they had no idea. My wife who was unimpressed when I told her I had them actually said she was wrong!

I've got to finish grading and get back home so I can put some stuff up here on the Christmas list. Not sure it's great, but the price will be right.

It's funny how the used X-E2 is at the perfect price point right now. I was thinking D300, but when I held it, it just felt too big for what I'm looking for.

Joey has a much better paying internship now and it's great to see him happy doing something fun (the first internship tasks were mind numbing. Robert doesn't have time for a job as he is the ISU Student exofficio member on the Ames City Council. He's learning TONS so it's worth it, but the 25 hours weekly of reading reports and meetings was a bit of a shock.

All in all, things are rocking for the kids, which make the rest of the stuff livable.

Hope all is well with everyone else, their family and friends out there in RFF Land.

Me too! I have all the gear I need, hopefully one or two books will appear.

On a side note about Santa, last year I took my then 5 year old daughter to see Santa. After the sit on the knee and the photo I asked her what it was like to meet Santa. She replied, "Dad, that's not Santa". I thought she no longer believed, until she added, "The real Santa gets regular people to play Santa, do you really think he has the spare time dad? He's way to busy at the North Pole." Tanks to her logic the dream lives on. Santa is real.
