Headed to Savannah in July to meet at least one RFF member! Anyone else want to join us?

Weather forecast: Hotter'n Hell. HHH (Hot, Humid, Hazy)..in other words, perfect for Southern cuisines, a mint julep, and a tour complete with the Spanish Moss hanging from the Live Oak trees around the many squares of this magnificent Southern city! Southern Belles galore! And the home of the Garden of Good and Evil, and Forrest Gump!

How can you resist?:)

Wonderful Dave....wish I was there
Soaking in the Light, Southern Hospitality, with a Steamy Southern Novel in one hand, a Camera in the Other
Sipping my Mint Julep ;)

Ever since I heard Blind Willie McTell's Savannah Mama I've wanted to go there.....experience that Southern food and everything else it conjures up in my head.

I happen to be here in Savannah right now. I may be back for a week in July for my semi-annual flight training too. Don't know those dates yet.

Come on down! In the South, the Southern Belles don't sweat...they just get "dew-ey".;)

Just had a mint julep last week and thought about the sultry weather ahead. Magnolias around here have been really blooming with all the rain this year and the 90s will be here by the end of the week.:)

Need to find me another Southern novel to read!

Duane, that would be most excellent! PM me and let me know where you are staying as I would like to do a one-night trip instead of day-tripping...too hard for us these days.:)

What a beautiful picture, Dave! The Deep South is one of the places I would like to visit. Hopefully, I will some day! :)

Thank you, sir...

If you want to see some more of The Deep South, check out my blog and start at July of last year in the archives...:)

OK...

My window is July 15-19 but can afford only one night. So, what days would anyone else like to join us? Weekend only? Weekdays okay? Gotta know soon to set the hotel reservation.:)

Dave,

Read "Cold Mountain." Won a National Book Award. A novel written about an outlier giving up on the Civil War, and is a novel about the authors real family history. WARNING: the protaganist is armed with a LeMat a ten shot revolver that has a second barrel with basically a stubby sawed off shotgun that generally was issued to officers in the southern calvery. Our hero is a gentleman bad-ass. Great story telling in that southern tradition.

Linda would like this book too because he wants to get home to the woman he loves.

A lot of history here.

Also wished we had some of those southern manners here in New York.

A weekday meetup! Hmmm... I will of course sign up, but will need to confirm the little ones' schedules for activities that week -camp, etc... I have family in Savannah, so my window is wide open. That said, they live on one of the coastal islands and I prefer to stay in town with the action. So, let us get this rolling and firm up the schedule!
