Hey guys, I was trying to find an answer and asked a few people who all say the SBLOO 3,5cm VF works for a M8/M9, as in fits inside the hotshoe.

I am not certain at the moment if all Leica hotshoes are the same, but I am hoping someone can please shed some light.

Basically, will this exact viewfinder slide into the M digital hotshoe? I tried to on a M9 and it will not slide in, i do not want to force it.

Is it because it just wont fit or is there something that can be done?

Thank you very much.:)

A lot of old shoe mount viewfinders had a foot that was larger than necessary and some had one or two slits in them for a camera repair shop to size them to the camera shoe, 'cause back in the RF days the precise fit of a shoe wasn't an industry standard. I still don't think it is. Actually, amongst Leica itself I think there is sample variation. The shoe on my M9 is tighter than the one on my old M8. Your mileage may vary.

My M9 is very tight for my Zeiss finders. I think I did fit the SBLOO more easily. I agree about not wanting to force it. The M9 is my first new Leica, and maybe all new Leicas are so tight. I did have trouble with one of my Leica finders but can't remember which. The SHOOC also goes on easily.

thanks guys,

@ Phil - It was a very interesting post and history lesson on VF. Perhaps I can take it to a camera repair shop and adjust.

@ Richard this exact one has two small bumps on each side of the bottom plate (if you know what i mean)..it was used on a M3. I heard the Zeiss are pretty nice.

I like external viewfinders, i think they are even beautiful to look at.

A lesson I learn from having the hot shoe too loose is, one day I was taking
pictures with my M3 and the shoe was to loose and the viewfinder flew
off the camera :bang: I was lucky and there was just a ding on the top corner
and the glass survived with no damage, I just removed the for
screws and bent the bracket just enough to make it tight and it was fine
ever since. those finders aren't cheap so take care of them.
