Just got an email from Freestyle that Adox is reintroducing Scala B&W reversal film after a decade of being off the market. $7.99/36 exposures, reversal chemistry kit starting at $60.99.

I am looking forward to reviews of this film and the developer.

The developing kit is good for "up to 8 rolls", so the total cost per roll is about $16. I might try some in the not too distant future since I have always wanted to do a black and white slide show.

That's good news. I never used Scala, but the release or re-release of another film is a welcome sign that the film renaissance is real. I may well be tempted to try some this time round.

I was able to use the old Scala for a few years until its discontinuation, and it's one of the best, or maybe the best B&W film I ever used. In my taste, the second best is FP4... but as a very distant second.

Now, I don't trust my developing skills... I hope there'll be some enterprising labs willing to do developing for this film.

My memory might be blurry, but hasn't this Adox Scala been around for a while? It's believed to be the same emulsion as the Silvermax.

OMG Freestyle......they have slept again 🙄.

Adox Scala 160 BW is already there for more than a year now.
Scala 160 BW and Adox Silvermax are technically exactly the same films, no difference at all. That is offcial, original statement from Adox CEO M. Böddecker.
This film is (like the former Agfa Scala 200X) based on the Agfa APX 100 emulsion, but has a higher silver content. And it is coated on a clear base.

Excellent film, by the way. The slides are outstanding!

i have been shooting the rollei retro 80s and processing them for slides. i make my own chems and it is not even close to costing even $1 a roll, so not sure why anyone who can mix their own chems from formulas would pay that much for the developing kit.

that said, B&W slides are great when projected, especially 6x6 slides! everyone should try it once

Most B&W negative films can be processed as transparencies, Ilford recommends their FP4 for this purpose.

I've done this with 35mm in the past and will be making stereo slides this summer.

As has been mentioned above, the chemistry is simple to make up and the cost is far lower than the Adox kit seems to cost.

There is no current Adox BW reversal kit.
FS offers the Foma kit (for the Fomapan R 100).

Great to hear other people are still doing this. Which process are you using for reversal? Chemical or under lights? I've got all the chemicals ready to go and planning to use Iron Out to reverse it. I really need to get my act together and get some made.
