I want to protect my new Nikon Coolscan V from dust, but I don't want to cover it with a material that won't 'breathe.' I know from experience that the HTC Machine Saver tool covers are wonderful for machine tools. They keep the dust out, but let the air in so that condensation doesn't collect under the cover. Is there a similar product out there for scanners and other computer add-ons?

Old bed sheet.

With a sewing machine, it is not hard to make a cover for a rectangular object. Use a material that will not lint.

For a scanner, make an auxillary door with good tape and card stock. Keep the carriers in a plastic bag so you do not introduce dust that way.

Perhaps you could buy a discontinued high end car cover. These breath so as not to trap humidity and do not lint. Cut it up and sew a cover.

Make a box lid from foamcore. Leave small feet on the bottom about 1/2 for air circulation.

There are a million solutions. Just depends on money and tools and skills available and how good it has to look.
