I've been having a GAS attack and want a Nikon RF. The only reason being is I've never had one. I offered up a nice Leica IIIG (for a S2 with lens) in the trade section but no one bit. KEH has a bargain S2 with 50/1.4 lens for around $450 and I'm considering that. However, there are some nice S models with lenses for under $400 and the only thing holding me back is the frame spacing.

Am I going to have trouble scanning B&W in my Minolta dual scan? What about run of the mill C41 processing at the corner store?

My Nikon S has good frame spacing and I have no problems scanning the negs..

The only reason you would have any problems is if the camera needs service. Run a roll through it for testing. You have a 14 day return option with KEH..

I've had two or three Leica IIIf's including a very nice red dial with self timer (you said IIIG but I checked your ad and it says IIIf) and now have an S2 black dial with 50mm f1.4.

Very different cameras and as nice as the Nikon S2 is I don't use it anywhere as much as I did my IIIf. The little screwmounts feel very refined to me and are a pleasure to shoot with ... the Nikon has never given me that feeling so it gets little use and has become somewhat of a shelf queen! :p

I don't think think a clean IIIf and 50mm is the same in value as an equally clean S2 and f1.4 though which could explain the lack of interest in your WTT ad!

I have both a IIIG and IIIF, got confused in the above post. I based the trade on KEH's and Igor's Cameras values, give or take a $100 based on condition. I could trade the IIIG body but it would definitely be money to me.

Pricing on an S2 and 50/1.4 vary widely. Most on eBay are buy it know for around $900, a few down around $700. Keh and Igor are both around $600 for an exc or better outfit and a lot cheaper for a bargain. My experience with KEH is that a bargain is usually what other people call excellent.
